In June 2007, Mt. Calvary in partnership with Knox County Alzheimer’s Association opened “Howard Circle Of Friends” Adult Day Program. Because of the growing needs of seniors in our community, Mt. Calvary and the Alzheimer’s Association designed a day program that encourages people with early stages of dementia to enjoy life to the fullest mentally, socially and physically. We believe we can make a positive contribution to the lives of our participants by recognizing their needs and implementing a supportive program that provides a safe environment.
The facility is a State licensed, Medicaid waiver approved adult day program offering therapeutic, recreational, and social activities as well as a nutritious meal to seniors who need daytime supervised care. Caregivers receive the benefit of respite and/or the ability to continue working to support their loved ones.
The program is named for Willie Mae Howard, one time Minister of Education at Mt. Calvary and member of the board of the Alzheimer’s Association. She is now an associate minister at Mt. Calvary.
AARP Tennessee and Alzheimer’s Tennessee has highlighted the award winning Howard Circle of Friends adult daycare program.
